Please help me to get a website.

You assume I have traffic already to do the surveys. Seems everyone is always putting the cart before the horse

A good target to start with, but add one year of age every year after 2010 - help the twenty-year olds in September 2010; 21 years olds in September 2011 and so on. You will most certainly collect/get over $100 million y the time September 2010 comes and dedicate the sums over the target for the over-teen eligibles. I was there with you last year when you fell over and injured your right eye, they did a good job stitching that eye but you must keep your head focused on the path? Watching the first two videos did inspire me to a degree but after you read our story, you’ll understand why I am reticent to go back into the spotlight. My whole reasoning is basically in my blogs and I started when I didn’t need to create additional revenue but I did so, as I wanted so much to create something for the future that would benefit a lot of others. First of all we just bought our fist home,in the mean time I was becoming a Successful Mary Kay Sales Director, I just made the Queens Court of Recruiting and I had won the.Diamond Bumblebee in Mary Kay!(this is one of the highest awards in M.K.)I was on top of the world! Then it was our fist Christmas in our new home,we bought a pink flocked Christmas tree,I thought it would be fun for all my team members in honor of Mary Kay.We had a nice Christmas,then the day before New Years Eve happened!My girlfriend was coming over to get some product so I turned on the Christmas tree on for 5 minutes and I went to my office,my son was on the couch playing video games.Suddenly my Son yelled Mom come here!I went to the living room,he thought he heard something.I started looking around and I saw nothing,I looked at the Christmas tree,suddenly I saw a flame coming out of the bottom of the tree,I yelled the tree is on fire!I was on the phone with a girlfriend and hung up and called 911 and threw the phone.I went into shock! all I could do was stand in front of the tree,my mind went back when I was a kid,when our apartment complex was on fire.My Son ran out side and was stopping traffic,then he ran back in the house to get me.He had to yell at me 3 times to get me to snap out of it! I finally did and ran to the kitchen to get my parrot,pepper,I tripped over the carpet and the bottom of the cage fell out. I took the cage anyway,we ran out of the house and it was on fire,I looked down and my parrot flew under the cage and flew into the fire.My dogs were still in the house so I went back in on the ground,finally the fire dept came and rescued my dogs,my doggy Sparkles almost died,but she made it. Not having any clothes or medication for 3 days, it was pretty hard! It was Christmas vacation and no one was in town.We had to start out all over again! Time went on and we had to rebuild our home,the contractors burned us for all we had.I had to step down from my position in Mary Kay so we could rebuild our lives.I looked to the internet to make some extra money and that is why I am here.I am here to help people! First, I want to say you hit the nail on the head and I hope that folks realize what you actually said in those 2 videos.

I have been in sales for over 20 years and frankly I have never sold anything, yet, I have had many fine times and conversations sharing experiences with others. Oh don’t get me wrong, I have been in the top 1% of investment brokers in the nation, however I never had to sell anything due to one secret which you gave in the videos, I hope that others picked up on it as well.

If they did not, here it is again… No one cares about what you are selling or what you know unless they know you are truly interested in them and interact with them with interesting stories.

Thats it… that is why you have hit the nail on the head, I know I paraphrased what you said, however in my humble opinion that is the real key to success is being an interesting person and being considerate of others feelings wants and needs.

Hi Tellman,

I actually just made a video for YOU telling a story of a challenge, and how one challenge can present several challenges. I tried to use the free version of the service you recommended and just a warning to others, there is a cut off time (although this could just be on the free trial version).

My story took me about 30 minutes to get through, so I’ll be editing it today - loading up to youtube - and then putting it on this blog where I tell Tellman my biggest challenge.

I’m hoping to transcribe what didn’t get recorded on the phone trial so I can pop it onto a pdf for download there eventually as well.

Here’s the short version of it:

Girl wanted to lose weight and make money online. She accomplished BOTH only to find the the whole kingdom come crashing down in what turned out to be a scam. Perhaps the biggest challenge after that was learning how to make money online with no money invested and how to learn the real secrets to generating FREE traffic.

I can vouch highly for the information provided in Tellmans report. While I have told my story before, it became obvious to me that I had not told it enough and it has not reached every corner of the web that it could. It is a story that is not completely over yet either as the wheels of justice sometime need a little more oil.

I can honestly say I have learned how to make money online using free resources and tactics, and have been able to apply that successfully to my own little campaigns. But now I find myself in a position which like Tellman I am trying to raise the bar a bit and put my acquired knowledge to the test with a new site that is one of the hardest markets to promote in.

I work with a partner, and while initially a soft launch was our intention to make sure all the cogs were functioning properly, I believe we are ready to jump to the next level and take things up a notch.

You can never be too high up on the chain to seek out a new mentor of some kind who may have some insight to take you there.

Thank you for the report today, and I’ve already started to apply what is in it. Hope to be able to knock out all those tasks over the next 2 days. It is a lot!

Others reading this blog today, my advice to you is really look at that list. Working online is like having your own business. You need to start with a solid plan - and that list you downloaded is a really good part to include. You need to decide on a niche, you need to get a site up and running, and you need to drive traffic to it.

Great presentation Tellman. You have inspired me with some really cool stuff to think about for links back to my website. Although I will have to really have to do some deep thinking on my story. We all have issues with the fact that we think no one is interested in our story, but I guess it is yet something else to overcome if I want to drive tons of traffic to my website. There is so much to learn for people who have never done marketing on the web and don’t have a lot of computer knowelege. It is absolutely mind blowing and overwhelming. I am still in the learning curve and inundated with all kinds of emails about how to market my site. I spend hours a week just trying to figure out the next important thing to do. Then doing it takes hours and is tedious. Maybe someone will be interested in something I have to say. We will see.

Very informative and clear great work.Of coarse I want quality traffic but I know relationships are important with that traffic.It is not that things are free but I believe for me the upsells are the bigest way of loosing my focus ….yeh this will help you do this and that , so I buy BUT you ‘need’ this and this and this ….. So confusion. Is it not better to find out how your first product is going helping that to be successful then people will want to have other tools and information

Funny coincidence: I tried the survey thing a few months ago. I even used Survey Monkey. I got a lot of good input from my lists.

After compiling the stats I went to work and created a product I thought gave what most of the people on my lists wanted. Then I sent a broadcast with a link and a discount to all my members. Didn’t sell one.

After that I promoted it in other areas at full price and made good sales.

Needless to say, I am interested in driving traffic–buyers–as cheaply as possible.

I have been trying for over a year,but have not made a list or even a dime.
I know I have been trying and I love it, see so much potential, and I have gotten greal information from so many wonderful marketing pros, like you, terry, Pat, Erik and many more. First of all,
Thank you Tellman. You know, I have been in the industry for over two years now and do you know how much money I have made? None, nada, zilch, zero.

This amazes me because I do so many things way above and beyond most people I know. I can build all kinds of things, I built a 30 foot scuttle for my vineyard, I build tiki huts for the pool, I build all kinds of fun play areas for the kids, I built a great fence out of downed wood in the front yard I can build like crazy out of nothing.

I can grow too! I grew four kids each one weighing more than 11 lbs. I grow a beautiful vineyard every year, I grow a wonderful orchard which yields an abundance of fruit, I grow veggies, flowers, trees and roses. I even once grew a school group who had an attendance of 5 to 50 in 6 months but for the life of me I cannot grow a list. Chirp, chirp, chirp, do you hear that? Those are the crickets chirping at my list. It is barren, empty, non existent.

I have tried everything too, I have been in your list building club, but I had to quit after the trail because I couldn’t afford it. I joined over come everything, I have your “My First List” program, your “Golden Rule” program, your “Trefecta” program, your “Perpetual Marketing Machine“, and the “Thirteenth Module“, I even went as far as joining you when you joint ventured with Dan Kucshell, and now I owe him 300 bucks a month, which I do not have. It seems as if I am going to have to file for bankruptcy soon. I have your “List Hero“, Crickets there too, and just about anything you send to my email, I give a try to. Including things from Simpleology, Brian T Edmonson, Shawn Casey, Mark Joyner, and really the list goes on. When I don’t know something or it is not working, I go to the people you send me in hopes of discovering the missing link.

I would love to know what I am doing wrong. Most people would not still be with you after spending so much and getting so little, but for some reason you seem to know what is going on and I figure you will rub off on me one day.

My needs are simple, I have some much needed surgery that will cost 10 thousand dollars. We need to make about 1,000.00 more in income per month in order to just survive. To tell the truth, If I made 5020 bucks I would be ecstatic! I need your help Tellman. I need someone to take me by the hand and show me what it is that I am doing to prevent my success. Second I think you are correct about free traffic and list building I am trying to start and Iam getting nowhere all I read about is you need a list and you need traffic to your site but how to get a list and how to get traffic when you dont want to spend more money and get information that you dont understand its like telling someone to drive a car who does not know how to the person like yourself more than likely its easy you do it every day but if you do not explain it step by step and donot think that everyone understands for example ( back to the car ) if you tell someone to drive the car who has never driven a car they dont know to check the parking brake is on they dont know to check mirrors to put the key in where the lights wipers etc are to put the car into drive to put their foot on the parking park before it will move and let off the emer brake I am sorry I am from N Ireland and drive a stick shift and only driven an automitic a couple of times But the point is its not as easy as get in the car and drive we take things for granted that people know what we mean when we explain things so we leave things out unwittingly If you drive and I told you to drive a car you would get in and drive whitout having to think about it but stop for a moment and think a bout it and go through what you really have to do like open the door sit in the driver seat adjust it to you so you can reach the brake and throttle and fix the mirrors etc and thats all before you start the engine as I said I am sorry for this being long THANK YOU for taking the time to read this

I’m gonna use this oppertunity to give you a little insight to my background.
My name is Níels and I guess I could call you may neighbor since I’m from Iceland ;o)
I got into the Internet marketing more or less because of the “situation” we (among so many others of course) here in Iceland face these day’s. I’m referring to the financial crises and unusually high rate of unemployment. I did find my self in the situation of having to find new way’s to pay for my bred and butter. Even if I have two different educations my choice’s weren’t many… and the one’s who were weren’t that good in my opinion.
Anyway… I ended up looking to the Internet as a tool for me to use in generating income. I had precisely zero experience in Internet marketing so I have spent countless hours online trying to add to my knowledge regarding Internet Marketing. In my studies I found you and to be frank, you struck me from the first time to be honest and no BS guy… but maybe I’m betting on the Scandinavian gene ;o)
Well… maybe it’s time to get to the point…. TRAFFIC.

My thoughts are to start my online business as an Affiliate in the hope that I can generate enough income to support my self along my learning curve… I’m not buying into all the “automated millions” that so many are selling here online.
When I can create a business as an affiliate with a good result I think I will be able to go ahead with my business model… I think that if I want be able to sell products where i don’t have to create anything, just market it I probably won’t be able to create a business from the ground up.. In your opinion, does that sound about right?

So what I want to learn is how can I, and anyone in my situation generate traffic to a site, in any market niche for minimum amount of money. I’m talking about a way to work (kind’a blueprint or road map) to fallow when you have a product to sell but need to find customers that would benefit from your product.
But to give you a little challance I want to add a little twist… maybe it’s not a twist :o/ I greatly would appreciate it if you have a different route that going to ezine’s and yahoo- or google answers.. to post and answer questions there, leaving your link and becoming over time the likable person who people will go to check out.
It’s not that I don’t think it works, I just think it would take me personally until I’m 54 years old.. (am 37) but then again…. I don’t know much about this. Since English isn’t my native language writing something like I’m writing to you right now hours… I think this one is taking me a bit over an hour…

hehe.. and most likely I lost your attention about an hour ago :o)

The short version would be that I would like to be able to generate traffic of probable customers to a product selling site.. selling consumers products, information, software … well, more or less anything under the sun. How to find them and how to let them know where to go for the product they are seeking.
But also, like you have said before, you can turn a twist on this and go the other way… tell how to find the product to sell to a certain market…

maybe I’m not making any sense to you but I hope you get what I mean…

If you actually have read this all the way I want to thank you for all your info so far and hope I will have the opportunity to learn a great deal more from you in the future.

I have been on your email list for several months and hoped to learn how to generate traffic. However, since I was struggling with how to build a website, or more specifically, just a simple web page, I was not able to put any of your valuable info into any practical use. These videos are very informative as usual and are appreciated. I personally hate surveys and never answer them because I feel they are invasive causing people to lie about their answers. However, most people do NOT mind them - and maybe answer truthfully. My list is small but will give it a try.

I took time to read through all the comments below - it is not surprising that people turn to the internet to “start over” as most of these people want to do. You seem to have attracted all kinds of people with different levels of intelligence, education, and backgrounds. What do they have in common?
1) They needmoney
2) They need self-confidence
3) They need FOCUS

With your tight focus on TRAFFIC (obviously everyone needs that) you have given them hope.

Since joining The List Building Club about three months ago, I have diligently focused on the Lessons, with those excellent videos by Brian, and have learned a lot and I think made some progress, although not many (3) have signed up for lists. I still do not know how to make a video.Yesterday I downloaded the free Camtasia 3 version and went through the tutorial. That should be easy for me as I am very familiar with all the Adobe software (including Flash ) what stumps me is the audio. I will ask my specific question in the big red box. (OOOps- can’t do that - don’t know how) My question was “Do I need a microphone?” Apparently I do need one. I know there is a video about microphones - I’ll watch it again.

If they really were doing so well, and really had these altuistic feelings, then they would be coaching for a minimum fee, or better still, helping one make money, and then claiming a fee or “royaltyfee”. It is so great that you are willing to help people, teach people and expose secrets that will boost ones income. Why else are we all here?? We want to make extra money for various reasons…like being broke and unable to make ends meet…therefore we do not have endless money to firstly pay an exhorbitant amount for a product, only to find we have to keep spending for advertising, to upgrade or to just get started on the right path! Thank-you….it is really refreshing!

Great information. I like the idea of collectiong vie surveys what your list base is actually interested in learning or buying. I have used Survey Monkey in the past, but I was not as defined as you were. I guess I used too broad of a question base. Did not work.

Thanks for the great tip. I was aware of using a survey to find out what your list wants, but no one had taken the time to explain the process with examples before. I am a “show me” person so the videos really help. My biggest problem is that I have no list at this time because I have yet to choose a niche for my main website that I feel I can support for any length of time. Meanwhile, I have been doing some affiliate marketing. You have provided great content in LBC and again, top quality instructional videos. I am starting to apply some of the lessons where I can by getting blogs set up to drive traffic, but any new additional “secrets” in the traffic driving arena will certainly be welcome.

Short traffic, first go to camera store (not to far away) take your “Quick Pod extender” and get a spacer to raise your “camera” above the base it sits on and you will not have the handle looking like it wants to jump up your nose.

I did something, actually a few thing now, I did a sales page slightly similar to yours and gues what? I did get some leads, and am now working on seeing if it can do it on a much bigger scale.

I have ven tried hoting a teleseminar, and did it successfully, again seing the possibility of generating leads along the way.

So, yes, the method you teach works, I guess it’s up to us as indviduals to make them work for us.

I’d like to start this by thanking you for providing a framework that I have used to get my business started. Your LBC training, and Easy Traffic Steps are great! I refer to them frequently as a reference.

Regarding your challenge, my problem is simple: I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong!

I have studied, and trained, I have purchased materials (including from you), and I have worked HARD to get things rolling.

And yet, I still get little traffic. Here are my problems in some order, although probably not in an order that you would consider most important:

1. How do I get more people to my blog or web site?
2. Once they are on my server, how do I convince them to sign up?
3. What kind of viral methods of list building actually work?
4. Where do I find a great JV partner that can provide a pertinent list for my unique content?
5. How can I make my content incentives (free stuff) seem like ‘must have’ materials to a potential list member?
6. What tools are available to automate distribution, and which are best of breed?
7. What portions of list building should be outsourced so I can spend my time on the content and other important areas?

There you go. The Top 7 List Of Things I Want To Know About ListBuilding!

Here is my situation:

I am in the Consumer Credit niche. I have a very strong understanding of the technical aspects of credit, and have a strong passion for the consumer finance space.

I have a blog. When I first started the blog, it was hosted by Wordpress. I was getting 60 to 80 page views a day. Not a lot by list building standards, but people were engaged. I got questions, comments, and had a small following.

Then I got fancy. I wrote several white papers, finished my e-book that I am selling, and decided to control my own destiny. I built a Joomla-based web site, and decided to host my own blog.

I fought the blogging-deities, and was finally able to swing the traffic to my new site. I exported the old blog, imported it into the new, and immediately lost all traffic.

I mean, very nearly all. If I get one hit a day now, I am lucky.

I went back in and re-did my SEO based on Pat’s recommendations in the Nexus. I am a member of the ListBuilding club. I spend 3 to 5 hours EVERY DAY trying to figure this out.

I was writing a bunch of new content. I was trying to get things published using OnlyWire. Then I saw that my robots.txt was out of whack. I fixed that, but still no traffic.

Here is the dilemma:

• I have posted over 20 videos on YouTube on the MyCredEd channel. Nobody joined my list.
• I have 4 free white papers. They are all timely, and good topics. When people read them, they are well received. However, I only have about 100 list members from that effort.
• My blog has more than 70 entries. One of the posts has had more than 1300 total views. Yet, nearly no one has signed up for the list.
• I offer the whitepapers and a newsletter as incentives. Neither has drawn anyone in.

I finished my book last September. It is called ‘Credit Cleanup’, and teaches a consumer how to repair their own credit instead of letting an agency ruin it for them. It is hard-hitting, a fast read, and is actually a process. I give the buyer a series of forms and logs, plus letter samples to be used in cleaning up their credit. Within a month, I will have a letter-writing application, and an online logging application, that I will deliver for free.

About my goals:

I got into credit trouble after my divorce. A lot of factors got me there, but I was ultimately responsible. So, I decided to make sure my kids would never have to go through that. I started talking to them about credit, and how it can help us…or hurt us. My son, who was then a Sophomore in high school, was in a class where they were teaching money management. I asked him what they taught him about credit. His response: ‘Nothing’. I asked what they taught him. His response: ‘How to balance a check book’!

I don’t know if you are anything like I am, but the last time I wrote a check I was about 15 years younger.

Kids get NO education about credit! I want to change that.

I am writing at least 3 e-books on credit management, debt collection, and credit repair. I need those to support my real goal, which is to develop a couple of packages, one designed to teach high school students about responsible finance management (especially credit), and one for adults that teaches the same thing in a more mature format.

I want to give the high school student package away. I want to eliminate consumer credit problems for our kids. I would hope to be able to teach kids about a responsible use of credit. I will have a series of professionally produced videos that teach in a ‘teen-acceptable’ style environment. I want interactive video, computer based training, and tools that teach through modern retention-based and persuasion-based technologies. I want kids to GET this stuff!

For the adult package, I want to be able to offer training at very low cost, or free with the purchase of other products. Yes, I could give it away to the adults, but I want kids to benefit from this, and I have to pay for the effort somehow.

Tellman, very honestly, if I could find a way to get the sales of the first book going, the sales of the next 2 will be MUCH simpler, as they are an easier sale (selling to pain instead of progress). With my success, I can help others.

I have 4 hours every day to spend doing things in the right way. I have a very nice video camera, and a son who wants to be a videographer, so I can get videos out fairly quickly. I am a fairly good writer, as you can see by accessing the white papers on my web site (the link is below).

What I need, is help GETTING NOTICED!

I don’t know why my blog stopped working. I don’t know why I never see people on my web site. I don’t know why I can’t ATTRACT people in droves to this amazingly timely topic!

So, let me sum this up:

• I have some very good content. Not enough yet, but very high quality stuff.
• The vast majority of my content is original work. Google should be eating that up.
• I have verified that Google is seeing my site, and my blog.
• Nobody is knocking at my door.
• I have tried video, blog posts, PPC (a small effort, but an effort none the less), and writing my list for help. No list building as a result.
• The majority of my list came from GetResponse subscribers for other products agreeing to download my free content.

I can be a poster child for taking what is wrong, and making it right. I can do testimonies, write things, speak for you, appear at conferences…if I had a list, I would even sell your new product! The truth is, I am willing to buy help, and materials, to make my business succeed. I have started and run a software company, so once I have this going, I can make it soar! I am a computer geek by training, a business person by desire, and an entrepreneur at heart. However, I have no more money to spend right now.

I need revenues to support the growth of the business. And I want revenue NOW. Since revenue requires subscribers, I am willing to do whatever it takes to get them.

Problem with web 2.0 is automating things not to loose time, like brute force, but even then it takes to much from your precious time to setup conviniently. Other problem I see like on twitter is the low rate of response and the fact that traffic is to generic to convert.

I tried to post my video to viddler but my camera records in quicktime for some reason. My biggest challenge is actually getting subscribers to my 13 week teleseminar series. I have a great panel of speakers, I’ve followed the model of the Perpetual Marketing Machine that you an Harris Fellman followed as well as others, but my outcome has not been that good. I started to cancel the series because it was going to cost me more money than I’m willing to spend. I’ve been recording the calls and am offering an upsell of the audio and transcript.

I’m giving the speakers an 85% share of the $77 upsell but I’ve only had a few get the upsell. I only was relying on the upsell to cover the cost with recorded moments and the transcript. I’m moving ahead with the series because I’ll be able to use it as a product on the backend.

This is why I think you should grant me the consultation because I’ve actually taken action a put together a 13 wk series but the results are not what I was expecting or anticipating. Although I’ve had someone in the internet marketing circles tell me that the model doesn’t work, I believe it does because I”m seeing others make it work.

My single biggest traffic challenge is that I honestly don’t know where to get my traffic, and how to convert those who DO visit my Splash Page and Blog to … Ka-CHING … purchase my eBook!!

I’ve tried Google Ads; Microsoft Ad Center; I’ve started a blog (www.miniature-schnauzers-fyi.com), and am now working on a new informational blog (www.fidoandspot.com) with plans to sell my eBook as well as do some affiliate marketing and sell others’ products.

People have clearly visited my original blog and my splash page, but nobody (ABSOLUTELY NOBODY) purchased the eBook. I’ve spent THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS on coaching, but I always get the same instructions - basically re-write the pages; re-do; you need a different…You get the idea. (It’s spending time - and my money - and seeing some results, but without the results I’m looking for - some additional income!!)

My biggest traffic challenge is that I can’t figure out what leverage I need to convince the experts in my field to JV with me without me having a big list first.

I want them to send their list to my opt in page to sign up for a webinar in which I’ll interview them like I learned in the Listbuilding Club. I’m even willing to let them keep all the profits since it’s mostly their list in exchange for the opt-ins.

Linking multiple blogs to my main blog, giving links to my 7000 Twitter followers, and writing articles isn’t working so far. And it’s exhausting.

I’m doing what you say - going systematically through the steps of the listbuilding club. Applying Brian Edmondson’s examples to my own idea.
Appreciating the step by step help. Whether I understand where I’m headed or not. Just doing, doing, doing. Even though one of the first steps was to buy a domain (without doing keyword research first!-seemed crazy!) I thought, never mind, just trust and obey!! Learning and applying more every day. All the “why’s” I know not.. Just doing. Sometimes a glimmer of the bigger picture flashes into focus then vanishes again.
Those glimpses keep me going.
And my absolute dogged determination to focus on solutions, not problems. I do have answers for some major problems some people face. I’ve been shocked out of complacency into action to share those answers.
So I’ll keep going till I do “get it!”

They can also buy individual chapters. I have tried to follow all the rules for the Squeeze page, opt-in, free give-a way etc as well as autoresponder follow up emails. (Set up in AWeber)
This book and video can help millions of people. Not just for bad breath, and gum disease, but to eliminate the possibility that periodontal disease can lead to heart disease, an association that has been definitely shown to exist in many medical research studies.

I have 5 blue bars on much of 76 keywords in Yahoo search mktg, and rank on first page in Google for most ads and keywords. I get about 900 clicks but only sell 10 plans a month. I only pay 10cents a keyword(pretty good huh?) I don’t seem to dtrive enough traffic or convert them. I have followed your emails and such for 3 years and bought a few products. I have 10 pain relief websites networked together via links on home page of each site. Sell several non-narcotic products on each site.

To date the majority of my purchase activity comes from adwords, yahoo search and the like. Use squeeze pages on all of these sites to build a customer list. Tried email direct mail campaign with marginal success. What I need is a process of “follow the bounching red ball” or “do this and then do that” process to generate traffic.

As the video states we thought all was golden because I learned all about google adwords (different match types, keyword list that are powerful, long tail keywords, negative embedded match etc.)
Yet after $everal hundred dollars and a CPC of over $17 (really see the video) we realized we are in trouble. Began to think that link building was the answer so read everything Matt Cutts and other gurus talk about and realize that it is viable but a LONG LONG time before real results will pay off. We need traffic now.

I just started building the website, not up an running. I am definitely a newbie. The last few months while trying to get things going I have gone through 2 breast cancer surgeries, out of 6 in 3 years, and have one, hopefully, last one to finish reconstruction in a couple months or so. Also in the middle of trying to move to Arizona. My daughter has been there for 13 years, my son, who I live with now, starts a new job on Monday in AZ. He will try and get a house by July 1 and come back and get his family. I am trying to get a 2bdr on my Social Security I just started getting around Sept 1. I have been studying and working, researching in between surgeries for about 4 months or so, Didn’t expect the second surgery so soon or the move. I have to make things work, can’t live on Soc.Sec, and have other health conditions, can’t work regular job. I am overwhelmed on where to start. I just received Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly Marketing Kit I am starting to work through. Hard to concentrate now, since I am supposed to move the 15th, and 2 places fell through. My kids are looking for me, while I scan all the rental agencies an give them addresses. My cam is already packed with everything else, except my computer, literally, so I can’t send a video at this time, not of me anyway. I realize that the traffic is about the most important thing out there. I do belong to several memberships, where I get tons of emails, but not sure what to do to use them - ListDot.com, ListJoe.com ,DownlineListBuilder.com. After many hours of trying to get things to work, I finally got a web site up. I have been using Michael Chenney course with very difficult effort.

Getting traffic is my next step.
I work much better when I can see it done first. However, my computer program does not always work the same as the one shown.

I get lost very easy or the computer adds complications to the effort. My goal is to start making money on the web, but I’m begining to wonder if that is only possible to those with a large list of 100,000. I have zero.

Greetings Tellman, i was told that your taking comments at this time, the vidoe comment isnt working but i did leave a little something special for some of your customers here.

The examples that you gave us work just great if your an affiliate marketer, see there are thousands upon thousands affilates out there doing just what you and othere here are doing but the one thing left out was that people in general will not look for things that are part of them, like there hobbies or there daily jobs, find what you are into members and then impliment that into business form, go find that niche with your particular keyword, google it man and sign up to one of thousands, take a day to do this because it will take that long, find it?

now use what they gave you and buy some traffic or free traffic such as blogs or networks, press-releases so on and so forth,

i have some responses to my keyword question and i thank you, you either have my response or my reply’s and some i havent replied to yet.

Tellman is asking for some help in this and from what i have learned just from the LBC videos i have made my niche persay and moved on, as an SEO expert and a web community owner now, (by the way not everyone is in the same niche as you are members so theres not a lot of compitition going on exept for the “Affiliate” market gimmick, nothings easy and nothing is for free) but there are exeptions to that such as mentoring and telesiminars like what Tellman is purposing to you guys.

To have potential customers come to your websites you in a little push from SEO also you will need to advertise as well, what SEO does is it gets you noticed on those engine pages and eventually you market enough you will be closer to the top 100, look for maybe a thousand people that wants what you have, use a search engine or word tracker to find these paricular keyword just as Tellmans video explains and then have faith in it and do what needs to be done to get what you want!

I owe a lot to this guy Tellman just in free content, i probably could have gone farther if i was a part of his elite team ,but you know what i’m trying to say so until next time Tellman and members.

Steve Yakim here. I have read all the posts and entered the contest. I have a list of over 100,000 opt-in subscribers. It seems that many of the people leaving post do not understand a few simple principles.

If you have a list, you have very little traffic problems. A list gives you power to drive traffic to any web site you want at any time with the click of your autoresponder send button.

It also gives you power to leverage other peoples lists through reciprical joint ventures.

Another mistake being made is that people think there is one main list building strategy that will do everything for them. The truth is that list building is not hard to do. It takes multiple strategies and not just one to build your list.

I’m going to share my #1 Rule that I do business by every day that has been the reason for my list building success.

Here is the rule…

Everything I do online must in someway build my list. If it does not build my list, I try to find a way so that it will.

This rule makes list building your #1 priority all the time.

Another little trick I do is to add a “Learn More” button at the bottom of my longer squeeze pages. When the “Learn More” button is clicked, the visitor sees an alert message that says…

To learn more, fill in your first name and email address is the form above.

It reminds the visitors of the need to fill out the opt-in form on the page to get more information. Here is an example of an optin page with this “Learn More” button on it…

I’m not too certain of what you are asking.

Tellman, You were the first person I found to learn from a year ago (through AWAI). You taught me how to set up and build a website, set up and use an autoresponder, and set up and use a shopping cart.
Then I began to get lost in the torrent of guru’s I found from your teleseminars. It came down to, if Tellman recommends him, he must be good.

So now, one year later, I have a great foundation in online marketing, but still no sales - not your fault! I certainly appreciate all that you have put out, I’m just still in information overload mode.

It took me a while to realize that your online niche was teleseminars, it took a while to realize there were niches to online marketing.
You do teleseminars, Mike Filsaime does freebee’s, Russell Brunson does upsell’s, Fran Kern does launches, Stompernet costs alot of money, and nobody really knows what John Reese does, but he is very good at it.

Now, unemployment is running out so I’m studying PPC with Chris Carpenter.

To answer your Question, what do I look to you for? Well, in the beginning I looked to you for everything. Now? I’m not sure what to do, so I can’t really answer your question.

It seems I’m past the point of get rich quick newbie programs, but can’t afford hand holding. And all the “blueprint” programs I have bought seem to be missing key data.

I don’t know how I screwed up the simplicity of
“find a market, find a product, and get in the middle”
but I did.

If you could answer that, then I would be eternally grateful.

Tellman - I can’t seem to get anyone to address this question I have. I am a newbie- trying to break into affiliate marketing buy I am not understanding how people make money at this considering the fact that pursuant to clickbank the average product return percentage is about 85%. If I affiliate a product through clickbank and buy google PPC at say .25 cents per click I will spend $250 for 1000 clicks. If I get a 3% conversion rate I will sell 30 products. Assume my affiliate commission is $50 per sale I will “earn” $1500. But if 80% return the product won’t clickbank credit back $1200 (24 returns at $50) leaving me a gross profit of only $300? Subtracting google ad expense of $250, leaves $50 profit. How do you get rich doing that? Chris.

I’m 51 and until 6weeks ago I didn’t know crap about marketing of any sort. I’ve been self employed carpenter most of the time. In my experiences with a lot of different types of people. You my friend, and I call you friend because you have that personality, that anyone could be your friend. Your honest and want to help people , and do a good at it. That is over half the battle when trying to teach what you know. I am sure you are an expert at listbuilding, not because you said so, but because you are sincere. For some dummy like me, that didn’t have a computer until last Aug., you have taught me a lot, and fairly easy to understand, which I really appreciate. I don’t know how long you been involved in teaching listbuilding, but I think your doing a heck of a job, and I thank you for it.

Anyway, I’ve thought a bit about your video and came up with a few scattered thoughts.
First, your emails are usually off-the-wall, especially the subject line. Once in awhile, the subject line grabs my attention and I open it.
Then, it seems I end up at one of your teleseminars.

I think your main characteristic is enthusiasm.
Second, you sound like an everyday idiot. I don’t mean that as an insult. You just sound a bit weird and not so smooth that you sound like you are really seriously selling something.

People “tighten up” when someone sounds just too smoooth. So, you come across as a bright, querky guy who doesn’t particularly intimidate people. I think that’s an asset in today’s jaded and cynical marketplace.

I’ve been a publisher/Internet entrepreneur since the 1980’s (Internet since 1994) and if you can come across as sincere, everyday people without using all the trite hype words you can be successful. Greetings Tellman…it’s funny that you should come up with this question at this time. I will be laid off from my job in about eight months due to cut backs. I only have one-hundred extra dollars a month to spend, and have been thinking about who I know that could help me with their program to replace my 200 dollar a day salary by then. It came down to you and Jon Olsen from Hit Exchange News. To me, your promotional emails always seemed to legitimately want to help people succeed, even tho you were “selling” a program. You’ve never seemed to be pushing a program just to be pushing a program. You always sent tips and tricks and ideas of ways to help the people on your lists to succeed…and that is why I first joined your “List Hero” program and read anything you send me now first…you seemed real. I’m sorry to say that I haven’t followed thru with anything since List hero, but I always look forward to your emails; and with each thing you’ve sent since then, it only reaffirms that feeling I get that you are “real” and care. I didn’t choose you tho, because you seemed a little to “big” and I thot that you would be to professional to really take an interest in my upcoming problem to really want to help me personally.

Where I come from, we call your “unique ability”, the common touch. You have no airs and graces. You’ve “made it” but you don’t talk down to people, you put no distance between yourself and others less successful. You speak to each of us as though you were holding a normal everyday conversation in your kitchen over a nice cuppa. Your whole demeanour and the way you present yourself instills trust in your readers/customers. For me, I like that you’re an individual and not a sheep following the crowd of other “gurus” and I appreciate the plain talking.

You may not like this, but you remind me of my son who is my youngest child. He has had a beard since he could grow one, says it takes to long to get his hair cut also the way you say some things. He also has his own business he is a glass blower.

With that in mind I feel like I can trust you and take part in your programs when I can aford to. I look at your ads in hopes that I will get a tip or two that will help me learn more about the computer as I am just trying to teach myself . List Building Club training, the Ferrari Club encouragement calls (I won’t win but I plan to at the very LEAST come out of it with sales and the beginning of a list - more than that would be excellent.) You work with powerful partners such as Shawn and Brian, and that is something which shows good judgment. Though I didnn’t continue ListBuilding 101, Brian’s videos were excellent - short and easy enough to satisfy the technically challenged. Your teleseminar strategies and execution are excellent..and launched your career with List Crusade.
But what really sets you apart is your ability to write snappy emails that get people to open. I’d bet you have one of the highest open rates in the industry. Teach people how you analyze the infor you want to get out and your technique for luring people to check out whaatever you are sharing or selling.
Several times I grew tired of receiving endless emails, but then I realized the email was the lesson, if nothing else.

Well tellman,firstly I like the fact that you look and act the way you want to look and act, and if others don’t like it, that’s their problem.If I was a successful as you are I would chuck my job and look the way I want to and do my own thing too, and stuff anyone who didn’t like it.
I am a newbie, trying to make some $$ on the internet and not doing it even though I have been trying for six months.I read your emails and like what I see but cannot afford to buy your programs.I know people say if you can’t afford to, you can’t afford not to, but I have lost over $20,000 trying to make money on the internet and so am too scared to commit more.
HOWEVER I keep subscribed to you because I think anyone with your track record has a lot to offer, and you are definitely a good motivator for me.I believe you offer great training, and hopefully the day will come when I will be able to afford to really take full advantage of what you do so well.
I find information overload is my big problem as some others admit to as well. I could never buy all of your stuff, and would not know how to work out which to get into and which to leave as you do say that every one of your offers is better than the last.It all gets a bit overwhelming.

Being a complete newbie, I follow you because I think you have a lot of knowledge and experience about the IM space and you are sincere in your desire to help others. Compared to a lot of hype out there on the Internet, I like your low key, “matter of fact” approach to talking to us.

Thanks for asking, here is why I am your customer. But, first of all let me explain what drives me. My goals in life might be different than most people, I have a loving wife and one son 19, and we are expecting twin girls in October. My wife is 38 and I am 41.

My goal in life is what brought me to you. You see I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and I am involved in a ministry work, and that work is what drives me. I work for an engineering firm and work in Geology, that is what supports me financially, but I would love to spend more time with my family and most importantly in this missionary work in bringing people something in their life that is different, something that will give them eternal hope, not just for 100 years or so, and not some dreamy promise of life somewhere we don’t even understand.

Most people know who we are, but do not take the time to listen to our life-giving message we have to offer.

So Tellman, here is what I expect out of anyone I take my time to learn about, I expect Honesty. I know you can’t give your attention to everyone who wants help online or you would be neglecting your own family. But, I know I can make money, easier and work smarter to achieve my goals, I do not want a million dollar home or drive a Ferrari, I am simple and will always be satisfied with a simple life. So for me if I made $50,000-$70,000 per year I would be satisfied and my family feels the same way.

So all I need from you is to be able to do this, I would be willing to even pay for a mentor to help me achieve my goals, but as I stated my goals are not as big as some. Tellman, so far you have gained my trust, and I would be willing to follow your plan, if you can direct me some more.

What do I count on the most from you? Your honesty and integrity
The one thing I really need from you, is to be able to trust you.
When you tell me, “here’s the best way to do this” I will know that it is.
When you say, “this is a great product, and I know the developer, and it can help you with ____” Then I know this is worth while to look at it.
There are several of the “big guys” in the game who aren’t very concerned about being honest, or being a helper, they JUST want the money. Which actually makes them worthless.

(he never meant to teach me this I just got it from his behavior) He does not care what anybody thinks about him, mom would get so upset because he would go out waring things that did not match or looked “real bad”. He would say “if you don’t like the way I look - don’t look at me”. It really does not matter what people think, as long as you are happy with your self which - you have every reason to be happy with your self. If it is of any consolation I respect what you do (help folks) and who you are (a fine human being:-) I feel that in the end your getting an A+ because you care about others, you are a good person. So get off yourself and go eat a cake or something, & keep up the good work!!!

I watched your video and although I haven’t been a subscriber for very long, but I owe alot to you and the newsletters that brought me to the LBC.Their free news letters helped me choose what I was gonna do after I lost my job to health reasons. They also led to your club which taught me that I could start a business with just my brains and whatever money I could find.
Now I’ve never met any of you, but I’m very good at reading peoples intentions. I have watched you in many of your videos and you do know what you’re talkin about. I wouldn’t be here if you didn’t.
I by nature am a skeptic and I have seen alot of programs that may show you some of what they did. They knew what they were doing alright, they just made $50 bucks when I bought their crap. Good marketing.

I believe you have a “normal”,”likable”,and “honest” desire to help the up and coming IM newbie and experienced ones also.
Your target subjects I find useful/helpful are traffic and list relationship.

just read this and you will know what other people think

If it works why not let people try it and if it works then they will

give you whatever you want the whole idea of chargeing upfront

fees turns people away but if the product works they would gladly

give you any fees that you require.

On another point if you are interested in helping other people why

not showing it i understand you are looking after your own health &

wealth but if you cared about other people as much as you say you

would give them a go and you would reap the rewards of there labour.

Tellman, after watching your video and a person who only sees you in videos, what you do for me is show me that you can take a dream and make it real. You are living your vision and each time I see you, I get a little more strength to live mine.

1. The List Building Club rocks. No one has an excuse for not succeeding if they are a LBC member. I like the videos and the step-by-step method you use.

2. You are genuine and you surround yourself with great people — Pat, Brian, Kyle, Sarah — I’ve had great interactions with all of them. Customer service speaks loads about someone’s integrity and yours is the best.

3. It’s hard to know who to trust on the internet. Because you have shown yourself to be genuine, and because your interest in helping people is so obvious (who else would do a 3.5 hour Q and A call??), I know I will always get great content and good treatment from you.

4. I’ve done what you say to do and it works. I’m on just about everyone’s list and I’ve bought just about everyone’s product. They all have a missing piece. You give the whole story and you concentrate on what matters — list building and traffic.

5. You are just nice. A few of the people on your Q and A calls are unbelievably challenging. You are so patient. I like the way you say “rock and roll” when someone makes a crazy comment or asks when they can contact you privately.

Well myself, the technogeeks, and the geekdivas came up with an idea. The special combination is created by my son the chef, and we really need your input on this as four of my six are in college so we really need to make the big bucks.
The idea is a spinoff from one originated by my son the healthgeek (the one on dialysis) and my son the chef (he won culinary jeopardy TWICE) Tellman Knudsen’s Sweet nuggets of wisdom, each box of cookies comes with an entrepreneurial nugget of wisdom and bonus coupons to use for purchasing from LWL cache of stuff, cause when you are thinking up those big ideas, you need a cookie (we also have sugarless).

I started to pay attention to your work because I trust my own intuition and I loved your very simple and doable ideas. I’m persistent though, and will keep taking in anything I can get from you until I do become successful at this. I’ve been a builder for 20 years. Around the time you showed a video of you doing the run and you bumped your head is when I first came to know about you and followed your videos.

Also you had associations with Richard Branson who is a felow brit, that caught my attention a lot.

And lastly your great success is kinda attracting, you seem like a down to earth normal guy that became very succesful quickly.

Well!!! I first joined your list cos you are a guru so you must be doing something right. I stay on your list (this is more important), because “you are what you are”. What I mean by that is that you are a “what you see is what you get” type. No w, I do not know you but thats how you come across. I think you are the type of person who acts the same whether you are a billionaire or sweeping the streets. I like that in people. You are decent, credible and nice ( and you dont care what you wear, another very important point). So no fluff or B..S which is good. I have to confess Tellman, my follow through on much of the teachings from the “Gurus”, my energies get scattered with all the possibilities rather than FOCUSING to completing the task to create the outcome.

To me, your unique ability is keeping my interest. I like you. All your oddities, bring me closer rather than push me away, because they feel genuine, not contrived. Then, I look at your headlines and content to see how I can emulate your style. Not to be LIKE YOU, but to be more genuinely me. With all the other FORMULAS for processes that bring traffic and for selling stuff, the key UNWRITTEN FORMULA you deliver so well, is in doing it all so authentically.

Maybe you can WRITE THE FORMULA and process you go through to put YOU in all your communications. The majority of marketers are less personal. They may have great stuff, and I will buy it, but I get bored with the lack of human-ness, and when I get bored with it, I pass it over. I start to ignore it.

You are unique in your unusual appearance and upbeat messages. Sometimes when I see your videos, I ask myself: “Why am I looking at this?”. The question is somewhat negative in that my impression of you (due to your appearance) is not very professional; however, that’s because in my work day I used to be surrounded by clean-cut folks in suits.

Therefore, your unusual appearance is different and it is this difference that gets my attention.

Truth is I don’t know, But please do not over analyse it, just relax be you and keep doing it.

I am still very new to this and you have helped me to learn ,both verbal and visual ,alot of what it takes to make it in this “WebWorld”. And as it should be with most honest and ethically correct people, you are yourself and relaxed in front of a camera. I am on your list because you have shown me that I can do this. I am a hairy, beard, bluejeans guy, x-rocker guitar type. Used to telemarket in dry times and by reading your emails and such I have learned to see IM as a telemarketting analogy and I know the numbers game all too well, all the cold calls, but I was good, in fact, tops. I used to make over 10K a month selling advertising over the phone from my home office.

IM is what I percieve to be the only way to achieve the same income in a world that won’t tolerate cold calling anymore. AND, it is the way I do not have to deal “face to face” with the clients and customers. I put in many long days and weeks/years looking at a screen with a mouse in one hand, a coffee or beer in the other and a headset on pitching and closing.

By following your example I know that I can migrate to IM and can loose the headset other than for live support calls and closing big deals. I also am alot less hesitant now to use the video presentations as you have helped me loose the “hang up” about needing this clean cut suit and tie stereo type appearance to make big money marketting. The cold call/warm call always concealed appearance and protected me and the customers from needing to maintain eye contact and such.

I have tons of mrr, plr and such and am in many many affiliate programs and use lots of different safe lists and ad blasters.

I hope that I can “migrate” all my things to one hosting company which I have found to be hostgator pro level and I hope to be able to get my computer email addresses, so many it boggles the mind, all as orderly and tidy as my in and out trays on my dest used to be.

I’m on the social sites on-line too but never really had or took the time to understand how to make money on-Line, but I’ve seen a lot of the come on’s and things.

well…Tellman, first of all, u sure mean business and i think the way you introduce your products to the public is in a way people appreciate them to be received.. Youre coming around over and over again with your emails and information and its pretty much so that it all appear in a decent, serious and not at least a well meaning way, with a kind, and a sometimes humerous touch to them also. Havent succeeded in this business so far, not sure why, guess im the kind of type who need a step- by -step method more than most or just havent the required time for it, , but the way you introduce your products are simply done in a very likeable way…and guess thats just a mirror of the person you are.

Hi T: I like your videos and the fact that you are honest (very important on the internet) as well as humble. Don’t ever become arrogant because of money and think that money is the most important thing.
You ask, why am I here? We were put on this earth to serve others as it says in the good book.
You do serve others with the information you provide to your list and in the Listbuilding Club, which I am a member of.
You also don’t try to impress us like other gurus do with their expensive house, car, boat, etc, because that doesn’t impress me. We have a nice house, I spend the summer going sailing, kayaking and RVing.
What I really care about is helping others on the internet with herbs and natural health concerns, making enough money so we don’t have to worry about money anymore, and helping women and children.
All these internet gurus who are wealthy never talk about giving back, which I think is their responsibility as a wealthy person.
Our pastor talks about a BHAG - Big Hairy Audacious Goal, and mine is to help women and children in Third World countries. You only have to go to a place like Nepal (where we adopted our daugher) to see how many poor, starving children there are, and the number of orphanages.
It just breaks my heart. The wealthy people just talk abut all their stuff - who cares? I don’t. That’s not important.
It’s what you do to help others that’s really important, creating a legacy that lasts. That’s my goal.
Ask yourself - what matters the most? what will people say about me when I’m gone?

I have to say that you keep us updated to everything that you find that will help us to move faster without wasting time and money on stuff that is useless. It is more as if you are a friend who is calling to tell us the latest gossip ( but in a positive way). You keep it so simple!!!!! My only suggestion is to do a video that helped you to stay focus on the project until it is finish. That is where my challenge comes into play.

I lost everything,my parrot that I had for 13 yrs died in the fire,all of my things were gone,my mother in laws things as well, who just passed away.I was in a camper in front of my burnt house that we had just bought that year,thinking what just happened? I was successful in Mary Kay and now all my product is damaged and I have no house. I turned everything into a blessing! These people have it right. You’re original, sincere, inspiring, your material is relevant and for people starting out, it’s great because it comes in bite size pieces you can go back to. The video’s are great, because we get to see you and identify with you as a person rather than just watching a voice and a computer screen. You’re enthusiastic and that gives us hope.

I would say that to earn a place of value with people, and keep that respect, give them real information that they can utilize right away. There is too much information that marketers are selling that has very little value in helping people start to make income that they need in the short term. Successful marketers like yourself can zero in on what will produce results right away for people struggling. It would not take away from your business as you have already discovered how to make income. The people you help will remain loyal customers and buy future products.

You are a maven at networking and marketing - fun and interesting.

But the reason I joined the List Building Club is because it is brilliant!!! I haven’t seen anything else that breaks down the steps to an internet business, like writing autoresponder letters and setting up a shopping cart, and everything else too, in 50+ video taped steps.

I have been on disability since 2003, and was injured playing a B Majors co-ed softball game. Basically I was run over at second base while waiting for the outfielder to throw me the ball. The gentlemen that ran me over rounding the base was 6′3 and at least 230 lbs. I have a petite frame, but the guy ran me over and I went flying. To make a long story short that injured my neck severely and about 2 weeks later became a paraplegic. My C6-C7 was being severed by a herniated disk. I had emergency surgery because my legs collapsed on me. BUT , the good new is, I taught myself how to walk all over again. NOT EASY but I did it. My neck was also fused…SO I am on disability because of the major neuropathy I have to deal with on a daily basis. I get paid on disability now, and I am grateful for that, the hard part is that money is NOT enough for me to live on. In 2007 I lost my condo, car, had to file bankruptcy all because I could not afford the things with the disability I was being paid. Living in California is expensive. I wanted you to know this story, not to pity me but to help you understand that there is a live person typing these comment and a person that HAS to so I can make more money. I was a humble before the injury but even more humble now, at least that is what all my friends say. Tellman with making more money I want to help people and I am driven to do so but I need more capital to do it. SO…here are my reason below as to why I follow you and need from you.

Basically, I trust you Tellman…I have fallen for many scams on the internet and have lost many $$ where “they” claim they will show you how to make money and then they send you something that really tells you nothing!

I also liked your personality as you come across as you care about people!

I need a MENTOR such as yourself to show me the simple straight forward way of making money quickly online.

I know you have heard this before, but ways to get a great list built in an easy way and not have to buy outlandish leads that are no good. This can be costly for someone on my budget right now.

I need to be taught by someone that can teach easy principles so I can understand them and then apply them quickly.

I can’t afford a lot right now to buy everything out there, those $24.95 monthly costs add up and especially when you are seeing no return or those $97.00 charges are too much right now.

I need to be connected to someone that makes it easy and get to the point. Bottom line I want to see results so I can get out of the financial rut and then help people and then afford to do the things I need to do in life.

I think I follow you because of the company you keep. It tends to have an effect on the way people look at you when you surround yourself with nothing but successful people. Obviously your unique appearence is why you are very easy to distinguish from the other marketers.

But the question you posed was what do you do that makes me follow you. The answer is that you profess to have a great knowledge of how to get traffic. That is something we all need more of and even though I may not be able to purchase any of your programs, there is always a chance I will learn one or two things from you for free on one of your videos, blogs or e-mails. For those times you do give little tidbits of info, I want you to know that all of us who are still working to get to your level of success and beyond, we appreciate it.
